Speaking in Kisii on Friday, Kigochi has called upon SACCOs and Matatu owners to take responsibility and make sure their vehicles charge the normal rates.

"Am calling upon SACCOs and Matatu owners to make sure their vehicles do not overcharge passengers. We are on with the crackdown and as security officers, we will not tolerate it any more. We will not take it lightly," he warned.

Kigochi said though passengers on board do refuse to agree when overcharged even when they have truly been overcharged encouraging them to speak out for serious action to be taken against the Matatu.

"We have asked passengers on traffic roadblocks but they deny even when they have been truly overcharged bus fare. Let them not keep silent we are ready to help. They can even agree not to board an overcharging Matatu and wait for another one. Let them not fear," he urged.

He has called upon chiefs to sensitize Kenyans through Barazas and other public gatherings about their rights which are violated without knowing.
