On Wednesday, trial Magistrate Francis Andayi said the hearing will start on March 7.

He directed the prosecution to ensure the accused person’s lawyers get all the witness statements.

Andayi said that it is important for the prosecution to supply all the material to ensure the hearing is not interrupted.

“The hearing will start on March 7 and I hereby ask the prosecution to ensure all material is supplied to the defense,” he said on Wednesday.

The defence counsel had complained that they are yet to get all the material in the case from the prosecution.

Aden and Njoki pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges and are out on bond.

They are accused of plotting for Mukhtar and lawyer Charles Kanjama’s murder.

Mukhtar survived an attempted murder in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa area in August last year and has a bullet lodged in his head.

Doctors say it is risky to remove the bullet lodged in the former minister’s head.

Mukhtar’s family has been accusing the investigators of allegedly doing little to arrest the ‘real’ suspects in the case.

Last year, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji denied claims of slowing down the case.

Haji said investigation into the attempted murder is yet to be completed and he will act once a probe file is forwarded to his office.
