Confirming the incident, area assistant chief Fred Nyakang'i said the women identified as Veronica Kemuma and Mildred Gesare have been selling 'kamuti' to women in the area.

"Kemuma and Gesare have been secretly selling 'kamuti' to women to 'silence' their husbands. On Wednesday morning a women who they had sold concoction disclosed the information about the dubious business to locals," he said.

The chief noted that angry locals stormed Kemuma's house beat her up before she was asked to name Gesare.

"The two were thoroughly beaten before Nyumba Kumi officials rescued them. Women using 'kamuti' on their husbands should go slow. We have solved these cases severally," said the chief.

Nyakang'i said the victims were rushed to a local hospital for treatment following the severe injuries they sustained during the beating.

He urged residents to surrender criminals to authorities for court processing adding that the law protects every Kenyan.
