President Uhuru Kenyatta's niece Nana Gecaga is expected to have date with Tourism, Sports and Culture Committee of parliament over management and funding of Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC).
Bomas of Kenya General Manager Quresh Ahmed is also expected before the committee chaired by Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka.
A fortnight ago, the committee which had toured KICC, was forced to abruptly end it's meeting after Ms Gecaga appeared in a pair of jeans and T-shirt, with MPs slamming her dressing code as inappropriate.
“Ms Gecaga was ill-prepared for the visit despite having been notified by the Clerk of the National Assembly two weeks prior to the visit,” Mr Charles Nguna, Mwingi Central MP said.
“It seems she does not know how government systems work. She is the wrong person to be entrusted with this major institution.”
The two parastatals are accountable to the National Treasury but the committee will be seeking an update on the implementation of government policies in regard to tourism and culture and efforts made to market Kenya as a tourist destination.
Gecaga, who was appointed to take over the facility as CEO in 2015, is a daughter to Wambui Kenyatta, an elder sister to President Uhuru Kenyatta. She's sister to Uhuru's personal assistant Jomo Gecaga.
On Tuesday, MPs are expected to grill Ms Gecaga over management of the facility and it's funding. KICC remits revenue collected from the facility to treasury. However, it's budget is allocated from parliament.
