Already, DCI George Kinoti has dispatched elite squad from Nairobi that would be tasked to investigate the mysterious murder of Ms. Otieno, a second year student at Rongo University.

“A team has left Nairobi to undertake the investigation of the abduction and murder of the university student,” Kinoti said in a statement.

Governor Obado's Personal Assistant Michael Oyamo had been arrested on Tuesday in connection with the abduction and is being held by detectives in Migori.

But Obado, who has been linked to the mysterious disappearance and subsequent murder, dismissed his involvement, asking the police to investigate the murder.

“Governor Obado is not aware of such a plan and his name should not be dragged into such criminal schemes. Let police do the investigations and take necessary actions,” his press secretary Nicholas Anyuor said.

Ms. Otieno was found dead at Kodero forest in Homa Bay hours after dramatic abduction along with Oduor, who had however, managed to jump out of the speeding vehicle.

According to Oduor, he had met the PA to Obado to discuss a matter involving relationship that had gone sour between Ms. Otieno and a politician, who is said to have impregnated her.
