Today, everyone is talking about love.
You might be among those celebrating this day with special clothing and gifts.
However, religion has varied opinions on the legality of Valentine’s Day to those who subscribe to various beliefs.
Sections of Muslims believe that this day should not be celebrated.
The Quran has a clear way and prescribed law governing ceremonies that Muslims should honour.
Valentine’s Day is not one of the religious ceremonies that Muslims are directed to observe.
"For every nation We have ordained religious ceremonies which they must follow.'" [Quran 22:67].
"And be not as those who divided and differed among themselves after the clear proofs had come to them. It is they for whom there is an awful torment," the Quran adds. [Quran 3:105].
The Holy Book even warns Muslims against honoring traditions that are allowed in their religion.
The Quran states that any person who joins anti-Muslim celebrations indicates that he has joined them.
Additionally, according to Ijmaa, it is Haraam to imitate non-Muslims.
"And if any amongst you takes them friends (and helpers), then surely, he is one of them" [Quran 5:5].
