Addressing the press when he received Embakasi South MP-elect Julius Mawathe at the party headquarters on Thursday, the party leader Kalonzo Musyoka bashed ODM for allegedly mistreating the remaining parties.

He said that ODM has been enjoying political funding set aside for the alliance alone, leaving out Wiper, Ford Kenya and Amani National Congress (ANC) out.

The former Vice President announced plans to talk the opposition boss Raila Odinga-led side into sharing the funds with her sister parties as is contained in their alliance deal.

"We will continue to engage our friends in ODM and together with Ford Kenya and ANC so that what is contained in our coalition agreement is honoured,” he was quoted by the Nation.

Musyoka also used the opportunity to congratulate Mawathe on his win, terming him the best candidate hence his win.

This, he said, is with consideration that he was running against 15 other hopefuls.

"This contest was not between two parties, Wiper and ODM, but 15 parties, that was an absolute win for Mawathe. The people of Embakasi South overwhelmingly voted for him because he was the best candidate,” he added.

Ironically, ODM also had a candidate in the race, in the name of former area MP Irshad Sumra, who appeared a distant second in the Friday last week by-election.
