Fred Kiriago, one of the farmers said Fidelis Borura has been stealing tea leaves from other farmers for the past 2 years.

“Borura owns a small tea farm but he has been getting good monthly incentives since he has been stealing tea leaves. A trap was laid on him today morning and he was caught stealing tea leaves from a farmer who brought the tea leaves to the centre before they would be collected from there,” said Kiriago.

He noted that other farmers who were outside were informed about the matter.

Michael Onchari, area Assistant Chief said the suspect was roughed up by angry farmers who expelled him completely from bringing his tea leaves to the centre.

“The farmers expelled Borura from the tea buying centre for good and warned him against stepping foot at the centre. He should find another centre to take his tea leaves since he is a thief who will not be condoned,” he said.

Onchari warned tea farmers against stealing from each other and urged them to plant more tea at their farms to boost production.
