Afraid that they could be denied access into his house in Nairobi's posh Karen estate, the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives used a matatu van to hide their identity.

Well aware that using their own car would lead to suspicion among the security guards manning Lenorkukal's home, they opted for a 14-seater van plying Kiserian-Nairobi route.

According to witnesses, the matatu was registered under Serian Sacco and the detectives who were fully armed would swing into action immediately the gate was opened.

The raid saw the detectives carry away documents and electronics they believe will be of help in their ongoing probe on the governor alleged to be involved in a Ksh2 billion graft saga.

The governor was also taken away for questioning and later released, with EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak saying that the governor was involved in a number of corrupt dealings that defrauded the county billions.

The searches are in furtherance of investigations that the commission has been carrying out which have revealed that the county has lost over Sh2 billion in the past four years,” he was quoted by the Standard.

The commission says that it has evidence proving cases of bribery, fraudulent tendering and fraudulent contracts between the county and firms and will use it to pin down the governor and his accomplices.
