Kalonzo’s expression of another shot into the 2022 elections has had pundits discuss his suitability to be Kenya's President at some point with divided opinions.

While some support his bid, political analyst Dr Onyango Ochieng Jnr says that his time is over.

The analyst opines that Kalonzo has nothing to show even after serving in top government positions for more than two decades.

Dr Ochieng Jnr holds that the Wiper Party boss lost his vision after subscribing to the slogan 'the nearer bone, the sweeter the meat' in regard to development back when he was in government.

"Those days you just needed to be nearer to the President then tell the President what you want to be done in your region. Did Kalonzo do that?” asked the analyst.

He argues that this is playing against Kalonzo whereby political up comers in Ukambani are now having more influence than him.

"That is why ‘small boys’ of yesterday like Prof. Kivutha Kibwana are outclassing, outgunning,  out-focusing and outrunning Kalonzo Musyoka,” adds the analyst.

Among leaders whose popularity have increased in the region are Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua and Prof Kibwana (Makueni Governor).

Mutua has declared his bid for the presidency in 2022. He says he will ride on his development-oriented track record and vision to better Kenya, something that previous leaders have failed to achieve, he says.
