Isiolo leaders on Tuesday pitched a tent in Modogashe area of Garissa county even as inter-community clashes rage on.
The Isiolo delegation led by Woman Representative Rehema Jaldesa assessed the damage caused by the clashes that erupted on Friday night, where at least two people have so far been killed.
Issuing a statement after the visit, Jaldesa noted that it was unfortunate that property worth millions of shillings have been reduced to ashes.
"It is unfortunate that more properties were burnt including a health centre, Mukkatim primary school and two fully equipped boreholes," reads the statement in part.
Jaldesa further faulted Lagdera OCPD for allegedly overseeing an atrocity being meted on innocent civilians and called on the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) to immediately investigate the senior police boss.
"It is sad that all these happened under the supervision of OCPD Lagdera. Instead of maintaining law and order, the OCPD oversaw an atrocity committed against innocent civilians. I, therefore, call upon IPOA to immediately take action against the officer," added the statement.
Other leaders who accompanied the Isiolo Woman rep include governor Mohammed Kuti, Isiolo South MP Abdi Koropu and Isiolo North MP Hassan Odha.
The Garissa-Isiolo clashes are said to have erupted over disputed grazing land and watering points.
