A local, Christopher Onderi said the suspect identified as Rodgers Omworo together with his accomplices stole a cow from the village three days ago.

"Omworo has been warned several times to stop stealing in vain. Three days ago they stole a cow from the village and efforts to have the gangs return the cow didn't bore fruits. Angry residents stormed a local bush where they suspects have been hiding and nabbed only Omworo before slashing him to death," said Onderi.

Area sub-chief Alvin Nyaanga said the deceased was cut several times.

"The deceased died because he lost a lot of blood following the several panga cuts. His two colleagues managed to escape but, police are tracing them," he said.

The chief warned youths against engaging in criminal activities saying the law won't spare them and urged the public not to take the law into their own hands.

"The public should stop taking the law into their hands killing suspects. The deceased body was moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital morgue," he added.
