In a Facebook post on Sunday, the MP urged politicians in the country to exercise restraint and instead focus on maintaining peace in the country.

“I am deeply concerned about the current exchange of attacks between senior leaders. This is very worrying especially given they have a sizeable following and are likely presidential candidates in the future. I urge my worthy competitors to exercise utmost restraint and take cognizance of the fact that we need maximum peace and tranquillity as we tackle the dire economic situation that our people are suffering from," said Kuria.

"I further urge my supporters to keep calm and not to fall into the temptations of joining this unfortunate exchange of words. When everyone else loses their heads, let’s keep ours,” he added.

This comes as the rivalry between Deputy President William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga intensifies.

Ruto and Raila clashed last week over the Sh21 billion dams scandal that recently hit the country.

The war of words was renewed on Sunday after Raila claimed that Kisumu Catholic Archbishop Philip Anyolo had rejected a car that the DP had given him over claims of being bought using "dirty money".

The statement seems to have irked Ruto who responded by referring to Raila as the "master of deceit" adding that the car was bought as a gift by Christian leaders including President Uhuru Kenyatta and himself.
