Nancy Nyamweya, a mother to an eight-month-old baby,  had been accused of being in possession of 20 litres of busaa whose content was questionable.

The accused was arrested by Administration Police officers during a patrol dubbed “Msako programme” meant to stop the production and sale of illicit liquor.

Nyamweya was also charged with selling the illicit brew to her customers at her bar that she operates in Flamingo.

The accused was further charged with allegedly operating her business in illegal premises, without valid documents from the relevant authorities.

Nyamweya, however, denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Bernard Mararo and through her lawyer, she asked the court to grant her bail.

The lawyer asked the court to release Nyamweya saying that she was a mother to an eight-month-old baby who solely depended on her.

Magistrate Mararo granted the application and directed that she be released on Sh10,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.

The case will be mentioned on May 30, 2019.
