Police in Garissa have intensified the search for a woman who allegedly tortured a 10-year-old girl who she had allegedly employed as a house-help.
According to Garissa police boss Aron Moriasi, the search for the woman has been extended to Dadaab refugee camp.
Speaking to journalists in Garissa Town on Monday, the police boss asked members of the public to provide information that will lead to the arrest of the woman.
“We have intensified search and once arrested she will be arraigned in court,” he said on Monday.
The woman escaped after she was exposed by the girls’ father.
The girl from Mandera is said to have been under the care of the woman.
She was admitted in hospital after her employer allegedly poured hot water on her head and neck.
According to the police, the woman has been torturing the minor sometimes beating her with blunt objects.
Police say the girl is also suffering from severe malnutrition.
The minor is recuperating at the Garissa referral hospital.
