A new study has cautioned men over wearing tight underwear.
According to a research published in the medical journal titled "Human Reproduction", it was found out that the quality and concentration of men’s sperms do vary depending on the type of underwear they are used to wear.
Men who put on loose-fitting or rather no underwear at all have more spermatozoa, which makes it easy for them to swim and even fertilise an egg.
According to the study, it was revealed that the testes, which are housed in the scrotum hang outside the body for reasons. Sperms which handle heat poorly, require just the right temperature for them to be healthy.
Dr Lidia Mínguez-Alarcón, a scientist at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health led the research.
In wearing tight underwear, the scrotum will be pulled closer to the body increasing heat. Due to this unexpected increase in heat, the testes will stop producing sperms. Lack of sperm production makes one sterile.
Alternatively, sperms might be produced in small quantities and quality. Such sperms will be sluggish and will not swim up to fertilize the eggs.
Therefore, the study concluded that the type of underwear has a lot to do with how healthy a man’s sperms will be. Men should consider wearing loose underwear if they want to improve their testicular functions.
