Two siblings are currently fighting for the lives in Kisii Level Six hospital after taking poison on Sunday.
According to Ogembo residents, one Kepher Mbera and Irene Mbera took poison after elders threatened to curse them over their controversial relationship.
The two have been cohabiting despite being siblings, something that angered elders.
"Firstly we thought it was a brother sister love until when we came to realize that it was something more than that," said Edward Mbera, a brother to them.
Confirming the incident area Chief Joseph Nyakwama said he was informed of their relationship and immediately summoned them to face elders.
"When they heard that they have been summoned by local elders for an action, they resolved to take poison, leaving a suicide note," he said.
The chief further said the two luckily didn't die and were rushed to hospital for medication.
"We won't allow them to marry as our in our culture it's a taboo and we will ensure once they regain they are charged with attempt of murder,"said Nyakwama
