Technology has brought change in the job application process where recruiters are shifting from the older ways of hard copies and manual work to emails which is cheaper and convenient, but tricky to job seekers.

Many job seekers don't understand how an application through email is supposed to be framed, which leaves them turned down even for jobs they are qualified.

Here are a few tips to consider when applying for a job via email:

1. Always include the subject of the email

Recruiting agencies always receive a lot of job applications for different positions.

Job seekers must include email subject when making online applications, that is, the job title and your name to make it simple and easier for the employer/recruiter to know what you are looking for.

2. Be as precise as possible in the email body

The composition of the body must be precise and straight to the point.

Recruiters have a lot of emails to go through, and if you are not precise, this might turn them off.

3. Use formal greetings and closing as well

A salutation is very important, especially if you don't know the gender of the employer, remember to use sir/madam.

Your signature at the end should also be formal.

The job application should have your name, email and phone number.

4. A formal email address is also very important

Recipients name will also determine if you will be considered for the job or not.

Avoid funny email addresses that will make recruiters doubt if you are serious for the job.

It's always advisable to use your official names as the mail prefix.

5. Don’t forward emails and documents from emails

Forwarding emails from one recruiting agency to the other will portray you as a lazy job seeker.

Take your time and type the mail since no one wants to have a lazy employee.
