Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali on Sunday stunned congregation in ACK church at Kahawa Wendani Kiambu County with his fluency in Kikuyu language.
The legislator was attending the church service with other leaders and when he was given a chance to speak, he decided to entice the congregation with Kikuyu before he changed to Swahili for the rest of his speech.
"How are you our people, praise God, are you people surprised? I come from Mombasa and Member of Parliament for Nyali constituency. Am happy to be here this day. We are doing the work of God and his church as we move on together. Should I continue? no, let me stop there," Ali spoke in fluent Kikuyu in a video shared on Twitter by Daily Nation.
The MP is from a sparsely populated Borana community and was born in Isiolo County.
He was previously an investigative Journalist whose mastery in Kiswahili language and how he expressed the language made audience glue at the screen whenever he was reporting.
During his time as an investigative journalist, he used to be the biggest critic of Deputy President William Ruto. However, since he was elected, he has been seen to be warming up to the DP.
