Kiambu residents are keenly following the 2022 succession debate amid claims of a looming fallout between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
The reports of emerging cracks in the ruling Jubilee Party have left residents guessing what will happen as the 2022 elections draw closer.
A video posted on the United States of Kiambu Facebook page of DP Ruto giving a speech after the Supreme Court nullified President Uhuru’s win in the August 8 polls has sparked fresh debate online.
A section of residents have argued that the DP stood by Uhuru and deserves the support of the Mt Kenya region in 2022.
Here are some of the reactions:
Jymozde Marley said: "All the way up, there is no need to betray him many have been there but they also did nothing…and we didn't even know if they will fail us but we voted for them. If you don't believe in someone don't judge him without giving him a chance. This man deserves it. Ama namna gani?"
Wangai Nickey Simoh said: "My president 2022, brave enough."
Betty Wanga said: "This man deserves a chance."
Sitima Sitima said: "He was part of the presidency, so don't tell us that he stood by Uhuru. Nothing like betrayal, in fact Ruto has benefited from the presidency more than the commander in chief himself. The 2022 elections will be like no other."
Dominic Macharia said: "Pamoja na Ruto 2022."
Hosea de Bruyne said: "Was only focusing on 2022 support akwende mbali."
Francis Katiku said: "I hope in 2022 he will not go to the courts to overturn the 'will of the people."
Francis Mbaria posted: "...he will fairly be elected and hustlers will make him president."
