One would expect that he would be a Member of Parliament in North Eastern Kenya.

In spite of being an ethnic Somali, he has been able to conquer Nyanza politics and has been embraced by Luos fully.

When he speaks, Luo Nyanza listens.

He was re-elected in the August 8 elections as Suna East Member of Parliament.

The constituency which he represents is in Migori County and is dominated by ethnic Luos.

What's more, Junet Mohamed is one of the few trusted Raila allies and is part of the veteran opposition leader's closely-knit inner circle.

When Raila met President Uhuru Kenyatta for the dramatic and historic handshake, the Suna East legislator was part of his entourage.

He did his primary education in Migori County and went on to Lenana High School for his secondary studies.

He holds an undergraduate degree in Business from the University of Nairobi.

The outspoken legislator is a member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and was first elected Suna East MP in 2013.

He is married to a beautiful wife and professes the Islamic faith which gives him the leeway to add another wife.
