Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior now wants the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji to order the arrest of MPs who allegedly took bribes to shoot down a report on illegal sugar.
The Makueni senator says that the DPP and other agencies should move with speed and have action taken against the lawmakers implicated.
Speaking on Milele FM on Tuesday, Mutula said that claims of bribery in Parliament are serious.
He said that if action is not taken the vice could escalate and hamper parliamentary services.
“We want to see investigative agencies and the DPP move swiftly and deal with MPs who allegedly pocketed money to reject the sugar report,” he said.
Mutula said that the alleged bribery has tainted Parliament and that Kenyans are losing faith with lawmakers.
He asked speaker of the National Assembly to be firm and put his House on order.
A section of MPs are on the spot over allegations that they received bribes to shoot down the sugar report.
Wajir woman Rep Fatuma Gedi accused of allegedly facilitating the bribery has denied the claims.
Gedi says that claims by some MPs that he gave out hideouts are malicious and aimed to injure her character.
