A Kiambu Court has freed Brian Kassaine, one of the suspects arrested in connection to Monica Kimani's murder.
Principal Magistrate Justus Kituku however asked Mr. Kassaine to report to DCI headquarters every Thursday. He was also asked to surrender his passport.
Mr. Kassaine was arrested on September 28 after it emerged that his gun was used by Joseph Irungu, a fiance to TV anchor Jacque Maribe to attempt suicide.
After convincing the prosecution, Mr. Kassaine has been allowed to be witness to the murder that has also seen Maribe thrown behind bars.
Kassaine is neighbour to Ms. Maribe at Royal Park Estate in Lang'ata and is said to have special evidence that could be used to nail the couple.
In his testimony, Kassaine argued that Mr. Irungu woke him in the middle of the night and asked him to pick his gun from Maribe's house.
On further interrogation, Irungu told Kassaine that Ms. Maribe had thrown him out of the house after a slight argument thus the decision to try suicide.
Also, Kassaine told the police that Irungu had also asked for paraffin to burn clothes suspected to have been worn during Monica's murder.
Police have since recovered pieces of clothing that Irungu is said to have burnt using air freshener and will be availed in court as exhibits.
Both Irungu and Maribe will take plea on Monday on Monica's murder and are expected to apply for bond.
Police have since obtained crucial evidence including having a positive DNA test that identifies Irungu as the man behind the murder.
