The two met at Shitoto Village in Mumias East constituency for the burial of area lawmaker Bernard Washiali's mother Peletina Akhanyinya Washiali.

The Ford Kenya Deputy Party leader confirmed the same in a tweet after the event which also brought together many other political leaders from the area.

"Joined His Excellency Dr William Ruto and other leaders in eulogizing the mother of Hon Washiali at Shitoto village of Mumias East, who was buried today aged 91 years. RIP koko," he wrote.

The former lawmaker was a strong critic of the DP in the run up to the 2017 polls but seems to have crossed over to the DP's quarters.

A section of Ford Kenya delegates in December last year initiated a bid to oust him from the party on rebellion grounds, accusing him of shifting allegiance to the DP.

Attempts to chase him out of the opposition party are still on course and yet to succeed.

Khalwale has termed Ruto the best leader to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 and has repeatedly endorsed his pending presidential bid.
