1. Food hawker
Hawking food at night works best along the highway and car booking points. The business requires low capital to start as one does not pay for space, as is the case with hotels.
"I have done this for years. I find it profitable and cheap to start. I pay my pills from this," said Grace Jeptanui, a 42-year-old food hawker.

She noted that she sells tea, warm chapatis, fried eggs and bread.
Jeptanui further revealed that the sales from one night earn her enough money to cater for family's needs for two days.
2. Bodaboda operator
The bodaboda sector has provided employment to thousands of youth in the country. Youth in Eldoret are lucky as they can operate the business even at wee hours of the night due to heightened security.
"I make up to Sh2000 per night. I normally go to rest at 4am. From my earnings, I give my boss Sh350 and get to keep the rest," said Amos Kipkoech, a bodaboda operator in Eldoret.
