According to patients who spoke to this writer, anybody seeking treatment at the facility is recommended and referred to a nearby Shamsu chemist to buy drugs with the allegation that they are out of stock at the facility.

"There are no drugs at the hospital. We are always being told to buy at a nearby Chemist," said Abdirahman Noor, a TB patient who had gone to the facility to seek medication.

Some of the patients who successfully purchased drugs from the alleged Shamsu Chemist revealed that the said medicine has been labeled GOK-KEMSA, meaning they are from government chemist and not for sale.

The locals are now calling on relevant state agencies to investigate the matter that is threatening to get out of hand.

The sale of government medical consignments at private chemists and pharmacies steadily on the rise, thanks to rampant graft cases at government health facilities.

The individuals behind these syndicates are either the hospital administrators running parallel businesses in the health sector, or unscrupulous medical attendants out to make cheap cash by stealing the stuff to sell at cheaper rates.
