Controversial Kenyan singer Esther Akoth alias Akothee has come out to expose a fraudster who has been extorting money from people using her name.
The mother of five took to Instagram where she posted a screenshot of a person who had sent Sh10,050 to the impostor.
Coincidentally, the impostor shares almost the same name with Akothee except for her last name. Whereas Akothee’s official name is Esther Akoth Kokeyo, the impostor's is Esther Akoth Onyango.
“Akothee is a well-known personality and her official name is in the public domain. She definitely is not Esther Akoth Onyango. She is and has always been Esther Akoth Kokey,” Akohee stated on her Instagram post.
The ‘Muje’ hitmaker also issued a warning on doing business transactions online.
“When you do a business transaction online, you should be very sure that the account you are dealing with is legitimate. For example, when you order for supply of goods or you make a hotel booking or whichever other service, you should verify the account before you make a payment,” she stated in her long Instagram post.
