According to Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, Matiang'i should forgive the students who insulted him and forget.

"The insults won't change Matiang'i from working for Kenyans. Let him forgive the students because they have now learnt a lesson after they were arrested and arraigned in court," he said.

The DG noted that Matiang'i is a national leader who should not champion for the harassment of innocent people.

Maangi argued that the former Education Cabinet Secretary should be used to insults given that he will one day join politics.

"Politics are insulted daily while discharging their duties. CSs should be ready for insults because at times they act as politicians. It is therefore advisable for Matiang'i to ignore the insults from the students and focus his energies in serving Kenyans irrespective of their religion, tribe and political affiliations," he added.

Maangi who has declared interest to vie for Kisii County gubernatorial seat in 2022 urged parents to be role models to their children.
