Besides corruption, tribalism is another big vice which has dragged the country behind in terms of development.
Tribalism has led to hostility among some of the communities in the country, with members of these communities viewing each other as rivals. The situation is always worse during the electioneering period.
However, a section of Kenyans, celebrities included, are coming to one conclusion of ending this enmity. They have chosen to rise above the enmity by going beyond the tribal borders to marry spouses from different ethnic communities.
Now you can meet a Luo married to a Kikuyu, a Luhya marring a Mijikenda, Pokot marring a Samburu and so on. This new trend of embracing inter-tribal marriages has helped in restoring peace and unity in the country.
Some of the prominent celebrities married to women from the Kikuyu community include:
1. Willis Raburu
The highly celebrated media personality is best known for his 10 over 10 show which airs on Citizen TV. Having been born in Nyanza, he opted to cross over to Kikuyu land, where he got a beautiful wife, Mary Prude Raburu. The two said "I do" in 2017 at a private ceremony.
2. Daddy Owen
The gospel artist hails from the Luhya community. In 2016 he married Faridah Wambui after dating for at least four years.
3. Ruffotone
Rufftone is also a gospel artist like his brother Daddy Owen. He is also married to a Kikuyu woman, Susan Njoki. The two have been married for fours years and are blessed with kids.
4. Bob Collymore
The Safaricom CEO is married to Wambui Kamiru. The two wedded in 2016 in an invite-only, purple-and white-themed ceremony.
