Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been criticised by a section of Kiambu social media users who blame him for doing little following a 14-seater matatu accident on Monday evening.
The Nairobi bound matatu veered off the Thika Superhighway and plunged into a dam at Githurai area after it reportedly hit a pick-up vehicle before rolling into the dam.
Some 'United States of Kiambu' Facebook group members, however, do not seem to think that Waititu is the one to be blamed for 'inaction' arguing that the accident scene is in Nairobi and, therefore, outside Waititu's jurisdiction.
There is often a kind of confusion among many on which part of Githurai is in Kiambu and Nairobi as the town is within the two counties. The area in question, nevertheless, lies on the Nairobi side.
Area residents have protested demanding that a fence is erected around the dam, which they term as a 'death trap' for them and those using the superhighway.
By Wednesday midday, only two bodies had been recovered with many still missing.
Local divers blamed the police for throwing teargas to demonstrators on Tuesday which also hampered their search and recovery mission.
Below are some of the group members' reactions on the same.
