Embattled Migori Governor Okoth Obado has been missing in action after the tiring and pathetic year 2018.

The last time the latter was seen in public was on December 20 when he appeared at the Milimani High Courts in Nairobi to follow up on his ongoing murder case.

However, he never issued any address, especially at a time when he was attracting national attention as a result of his misunderstanding with opposition leader Raila Odinga.

The latter began the same when he opposed Raila's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) endorsement of Ochilo Ayacko to vie for the then-vacant Migori senatorial seat in September.

In November, he again picked a war with the former Premier when he hosted Deputy President William Ruto and Raila's chief nemesis to the region.

Consequently, many people termed it an attempt to prove that his rebellion was nowhere near ending, pushing Kenyans into expecting more from him.

However, he has since cooled down, a factor that too many would rank him among the many other Nyanza politicians who made attempts to topple Raila in vain.

This seems to have followed his realization that Raila's roots are deeper under the ground and can use many avenues to finish him politically.

Obado seems to have given up after realizing that he would not achieve anything apart from hostility from Raila's supporters and allies, most of whom had already begun isolating him.

This, to a leader of his calibre, would make it impossible for him to work, considering that he would need a helping hand at some point, whether or not.

It could also be emanating from fear of the unknown after he claimed that some people wanted to throw him 'to the crocodiles'.

Obado seems to have tactically retreated after realizing that Raila is and will always be the strongest leader in this side of the nation, and the best thing for him would be to relax and work.
