Kisii County Woman Representative Janet Ong'era has congratulated Kisii County MCAs for rejecting the Punguza Mizigo Bill.
The vocal MP while speaking on Friday during the burial of Mzee Robert Kiyondi alias 'ODM DAMU' in Mosogwa village, Magenche ward, Bomachoge Borabu constituency, Ong'era said MCAs did the right thing by rejecting the bill aimed at kicking out women from leadership roles.
"I want to send a congratulatory message to MCAs in Kisii County for rejecting the Punguza Mizigo Bill. The Bill is just a waste of time because it aims at locking out women from leadership. Had the bill passed, women would have been deprived of their rights which they enjoy since the inception of devolution in Kenya," she said.
The ODM National vice-chairperson appealed to ODM officials across the county to maintain peace and remain loyal to the party.
She warned local politicians against politics based on propaganda arguing that there is a need for politicians from Kisii and Nyamira counties to join hands to ensure the Abagusii community is represented well at the national level.
"I urge leaders from the Abagusii community to remain focused and represent the community well. As a community we have all it takes to produce a president," she added.
