Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has said that his 2022 presidential bid is unstoppable.
This comes following the formation of a political party which is associated with him and believed to be his vehicle in the race to State House.
The name of Transformational National Alliance Party (TNAP) has already been reserved with the Registrar of Political Parties awaiting official registration.
“Your application has been considered under section 6 of the Political Parties Act, 2011. An application for reservation of name shall be for a period of not more than 90 days,” acknowledged Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu in a letter dated April 24.
With Deputy President William Ruto appearing to be the Jubilee Party apparent-heir, the new party is believed to be a strategy to ensure he is not locked out of the presidential race.
The second-time legislator is seeking to inherit the vote-rich Mount Kenya region from President Uhuru Kenyatta who is retiring in 2022.
The vocal MP said he won't repeat the mistakes made by former politicians from the region who failed to succeed founding President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta due to lack of a 'plan'.
“There is nothing wrong with people with six million voters organising themselves. We won’t follow the route of Mwai Kibaki, Charles Njonjo and (the late) GG Kariuki who gave up the presidency in 1978 with no plan. We are however not blindsided by raw hate and emotion like Kieleweke,” Kuria said.
'Kieleweke' refers to a group of politicians from Mt Kenya led by Nominated MP Maina Kamanda and Nyeri Town legislator Ngunjiri Wambugu opposed to DP Ruto's 2022 bid.
