The Government of Zanzibar has pledged to work closely with the Jumuia ya Kaunti za Pwani (JKP) in a bid to boost blue economy.
This is after President Ali Shein Mohammed, held a meeting with Governors Ali Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Salim Mvurya (Kwale), Amason Kingi (Kilifi) and Dadho Godana (Tana River) at a Nairobi's Intercontinental hotel on the sidelines of the three-day Sustainable Blue Economy Conference at KICC, which kicked-off on Monday.

Flanked by other stakeholders, the five leaders discussed cross-cutting regional issues that affect the sub-national governments and deliberated on the issues affecting Water Transport along the East African coast.
They also discussed fisheries and knowledge sharing in the sector given Zanzibar’s great fishing heritage.
Governor Kingi said Coast counties are more than ready to rephrase their destiny as a region and ensure they reap maximum benefits from economic activities that are driven by their water bodies.

Speaking during the meeting, Kingi said Coast governors are ready to work with investors to concretise the vast economic activities that lie on the coastline for the benefit Coast residents.
