Buzeki narrowly lost to incumbent Jackson Mandago both on the Jubilee party nomination ticket race and the real gubernatorial race on August 8,  2017.

Eldoret-based political analyst Joseph Majanga believes that Buzeki is going to easily clinch the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat in the 2022 elections if he declares an interest.

“The fact that he vied for it and narrowly lost to Mandago in the last elections gives him a huge edge to convince the over four hundred thousand registered voters of the county number 47 to massively elect him,” pointed out Majanga.

He added that the kind of relationship Buzeki has with the youths of Uasin Gishu County is promising and mostly he is fond of interacting with them and providing them with the necessary assistance to achieve their goals.

"Zedekiah Bundotich is definitely the guy to beat in the next Uasin Gishu’s gubernatorial race because governor Mandago is on his last term and also he still has thousands of followers in this county: besides, the small gap which he was beaten with by Mandago clearly tells us that he still can’t be ignored because Mandago garnered 193,606 votes against Buzeki's 148,121 in all the six constituencies in Uasin Gishu,” said Joshua Kiplagat, another political analyst based in Eldoret town.

"The political agenda of Buzeki is almost similar to that of Mandago hence unless a huge political wave occurs in Uasin Gishu county prior to 2022, Buzeki is the man to beat,” he added

Kiplagat also pointed out that the strong financial status of the self proclaimed billionaire and business man will propel him to the top seat of county number 27.
