The house impeached Ayoo over allegations of poor leadership, incompetence, and disrespect to members and staff of the assembly.

She was, however, reinstated on Tuesday by the Kisumu High Court pending hearing and determination of her case

On Wednesday, two factions allied and opposed to the return of the speaker faced off over the issue. The anti-Ayoo side blocked the entrance while the team allied to her sought to clear the entrance for her admission.

In line with Kisumu High Court Judge James Rika’s orders on Tuesday, officers from Homabay police station under the leadership of their OCS arrived at the scene to secure Ayoo’s entry and to calm the situation, reports the Citizen Digital.

Justice Rika in his ruling directed that the OCS is to ensure that Ayoo serves uninterrupted by her rivals, further directing that the assembly shall not appoint another person as the speaker until the case is concluded.

He directed both parties to appear before fellow Judge Nduma Nderi on December 4 for a continuation of the hearing.

Welcoming the ruling on Tuesday, Ayoo urged the MCAs opposed to her to unite and respect the court’s decision.
