Deputy President William Ruto has been called upon to forgive politician Miana Kamanda over his recent remarks against him.
Kamanda, who is said to be the leader of a political faction dubbed Kieleweke, has been leading MPs in the group to preach against Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
Speaking on Sunday at PCEA Nairobi West, MPs Nixon Korir and Charles Njagua asked the DP to forgive Kamanda.
“Mimi kama mjumbe wa starehe, kwa sababu kuna watu wamekuwa wakizunguka wakisema hivi, na mimi kama kijana mdogo wa mzee Kamanda nataka nimuombee msamaha, kwa sababu ata kijana anaweza kuombea baba yake msamaha. Kwa hivyo Deputy President ukiwa hapa leo nataka umsamehee na nitaenda nimwambie kuwa amesamehewa (As the MP for Starehe, I want to ask you the Deputy President that you forgive Maina Kamanda (for what he has been saying about you),” Njagua said.
Langata’s Korir asked Kamanda that he allows a new generation of leaders to lead Kenyans.
“Tunashukuru kwa sababu mlituamini sisi vijana, na mnajua Kamanda mimi nilimsoma kwa GHC, lakini nataka nimwambie kuna wakati wa kila kitu. Bibilia inatwambia watoto mheshimu wazazi wetu, na pia inasema nyinyi wazazi mwache kuchokozachokoza watoto wenu (Thank you for voting young people in 2017. The likes of Kamanda I used to hear them as I studied GHC in primary. As the Bible requires the young to respect the old, let the old too respect the young), ” Korir said.
The DP said as leaders, they will work together with all leaders to ensure they solve issues bedeviling the country.“
