This comes amid anticipation that both Suba South lawmaker John Mbadi and area Woman Representative Gladys Wanga are eyeing the seat.

With both enjoying massive support courtesy of their vocal nature and closeness to area political kingpin Raila Odinga, they are basically approaching the race on a level ground and with equal-powered artillery.

They are as well expected to first battle for Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket, after which the loser will contest independently as has been the norm lately.

However, with both in the race, it will be easier for a candidate of the ruling Jubilee Party to slide in between and proceed to carry the day.

This is because each candidate will take with them their portion of the party supporters, slitting the votes between them, making it easier for a rival candidate to match through.

The situation will further worsen should Suba North lawmaker Millie Mabona who is equally powerful and first runners-up in the concluded poll Oyugi Magwanga join the contest.

And with Deputy President William Ruto then in charge of the party courtesy of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s looming retirement, he will not ignore the county as he seeks to strengthen his grip across the nation.

Also in power and more advantaged in terms of resources, Ruto will have it easier convincing the people to vote for his candidate by dangling the development carrot.

He will easily convince them that more development awaits them should they elect a person closer to him, a Jubilee candidate in this context.

This way, he will outdo Odinga who remains in the political cold and with nothing material to offer.

Banking on the split vote, a number of development initiatives and his convincing skills, Ruto will easily carry the day and take the county with him to government should he win the presidential post.
