National Chairman of the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Board of Directors Prof Philip Kaloki met Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo in Siaya on Monday before proceeding to Kisumu for a briefing with the media.

The two among other officials toured the proposed Rarieda KMTC campus site where three classes and an ablution have already been constructed and construction of a hostel block and an administration block is also currently underway.

The professor also toured the Siaya KMTC campus which was the first campus to be established in Siaya County and is also among the biggest KMTC campuses.

 Speaking in Kisumu on Monday after he visited the two places, he said that KMTC intends to expand its Siaya campus to be able to accommodate at least 2,000 students by putting up additional facilities at the facility so as to enable it to offer additional courses.

 The Chairman revealed that they will put up a four storey hostel for the female students to a tune of Ksh 43 million and another hostel facility for the male students at a similar cost beginning July this year.

'' We want to bring KMTC Siaya to 2000 students. We have allocated funds for the construction of a modern hostel to accommodate the number,'' Said Kaloki.

Prof, Kaloki revealed that apart from infrastructure development, they are also going to add lecturers in all their campuses across the country.

In addition, he said that there are plans to take the proposed Rarieda Constituency KMTC to another level. 

The Chairman who was accompanied by his vice Dr David Muthoga stated that in a bid to enhance the realization of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s agenda on Universal Health Coverage, they want to train more healthcare workers.

He further disclosed that they have currently simplified the application for those who want to join the Medical training college, noting that a potential student can now apply and get their admission letter the same day. 

''With our 65 campuses across the country, every Kenya wishing to join KMTC, the opportunity is there. It is simple, you apply today and get admission in the same day,'' Said Kaloki.
