Timothy Wanyonyi is Nairobi’s Westlands MP serving a second term in office.

The lawmaker was first elected to office in 2013 on an Orange Democratic Movement Party (ODM) ticket.

Wanyonyi is the brother to Bungoma senator and NASA co-principal Moses Wetangula.

But who is Timothy Wanyonyi?

1. Birth 

He was born and raised in Bungoma County and is brother to Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula.

2. Schooling 

The Westlands MP  schooled at Kibabii Secondary School for his ‘O’ levels and before proceeding to the Nairobi school for the ‘A’ levels.

3. Graduate 

The ODM MP  studied    Political      Science and Public Administration at the Punjab University in India.

In 1996, he graduated from the Kenya School of Law and admitted was admitted to the bar as  an advocate of the High court.

4. CEO 

Wanyonyi is the Chief Executive Director and founder of the Kenya Paraplegic Organization (KPO).

In 1998, the MP was attacked and shot by carjackers in Ngara, Nairobi as he dropped his friend. The injuries left him confined to a wheelchair.

5. Advocate of the High Court 

Apart from being an MP, Wanyonyi works as an advocate at the Wetangula and Company Advocates.

6. Family

The Westlands MP is married and is father of two children.

7. Hobbies

Wanyonyi says that he likes visiting the needy and taking part in Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) activities.

8. Political ambitions 

The MP, a close ally of ODM leader Raila Odinga has declared interest in the 2022 Nairobi gubernatorial election.

“I  have the strength, experience and people’s support to be the next Nairobi governor,” Wanyonyi says.
