Speaking at the sidelines of the Sixth Devolution Conference in Kirinyaga County on Tuesday, Mutua said various regions have benefited from the fruits of devolution since the promulgation of the new Constitution.

The second term governor said different sectors including health, infrastructure, and sports have been transformed over the years.

He stated that Kenyans will not doubt revolt if the government decides to scrap devolution.

Mutua said Machakos County residents have benefitted from his leadership.

“Today, tell Kenyans that you want to remove county governments against devolution and you will have a revolution. People on the ground have felt it. Leave alone people sitting in Nairobi tweeting and working. Go to the village. People have seen roads and hoteliers have seen development.

“In Machakos, I constructed a stadium in one month. 'Mama mbogas' sell out their goods when teams play. We have the People’s Park. We have thousands of people who come to Machakos every month,” Mutua tweeted.

Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has, however, said there are no plans to reduce counties as speculated by most Kenyans from different parts of the country.
