Mbadi says that the rejection of the report was on an individual basis.

In an interview on Citizen TV power breakfast on Tuesday, Mbadi said claims of influencing MPs to reject the report are political.

He said that the sugar saga has taken a political twist adding that Kenyans may never know the truth.

Mbadi said that they opposed the report on grounds that it had serious gaps.

“The report in itself was not satisfactorily and had many gaps,” he said.

The MP accused the committee on sugar report of doing shoddy work leading its rejection.

On claims of bribery in Parliament,  the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chairman called for relevant agencies to investigate.

“The issue of bribery among some MPs should be handled by the Ethics and Ant-Corruption Commission and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and those found culpable to be dealt with,” he said.

A section of MPs are on the spot over claims that they pocketed Sh10, 000 to oppose the sugar report that was tabled last week.

The speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi has since invited the EACC and Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to probe the bribery allegations.
