According to the pathologists who worked on the body, David Mwai died as a result of compression of his neck.

However, there was no conclusion on whether he killed himself or whether he was killed.

Sylvester Maingi, a government pathologist, said that more tests would be done to answer the question of whether Mwai was killed or he killed himself.

"He died of ligature that was 80cm long," Mr Maingi said.

The key suspect confessed to having pulled the trigger on Mr Muhktar who is fighting for his life at a Nairobi hospital.

Asked whether he suspected foul play in Mwai's death, Maingi said that could not be ruled out.
