The 2022 presidential race is slowly picking the pace, 3 years to the actual contest, with one of the men to watch as of now being Deputy President William Ruto.

However, Ruto will only be one of the contestants, with the battle likely to attract more political figures with time, among them Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Though underrated, Kalonzo would easily beat Ruto in a 'clean' race, judging by his docile nature which brings him out as the clean pair of hands the nation needs on the seat.

He appears better placed compared to Ruto who is facing corruption allegations, is known for his attacks on fellow leaders and faced criminal charges at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in Netherlands.

Both have a single stronghold, Ukambani (Kalonzo) and parts of Rift Valley for Ruto, meaning that only the most convincing would win in the remaining parts of the nation.

With a good team and the support of other leaders, Kalonzo would beat the already limping Ruto by noon.

Also not to be ruled out of the race is opposition leader Raila Odinga who appears like the best weapon against Ruto come 2022.

Raila enjoys millions of diehard supporters across the nation and narrowly lost to the union of Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013 and 2017.

This roughly means that he would easily crush Ruto if he doesn't have Uhuru's support.

As a veteran politician, a democracy campaigner who was even jailed for years in the 90s and long-time aspirant, Raila is very likely to get the sympathy and gratitude vote this time around.

His ability to pull other leaders near during elections will bring in more benefits as Ruto continues to bash and attack everyone, which might render him all alone with time.

He is also not known to have fought for anything and has instead been part of a government stained by cases of corruption for the last 7 years which might see him pushed out.

Unless he does his homework well, Ruto might find himself out despite being very close to the throne.
