Joseph Irungu, alias Jowi, has been charged with the murder of the 29-year-old woman at Kilimani.

Jowi was ambushed by sleuths in news anchor Jacque Maribe’s bed on Tuesday at 5am.

The suspect is said to be the last person who was with the deceased on Wednesday night before her body was found the following day, Thursday, September 21, dumped in a bathtub.

On that Thursday, Jacque Maribe read the news of the murder on TV.

After work, sources said Maribe checked in at Kiu Lounge, off Dennis Pritt road, where she was taking shots of her popular drink.

Jowi then showed up at the club and a confrontation ensued.

"Joe joined Jacque and her friends at the club. Jacque made some comments which didn’t go down well with Joe. She ordered him to hand over her car's keys and ATM in front of her friends. Joe protested before them,” a close friend of Maribe revealed.

It is not clear whether the altercation was anything to do with the hunk man’s city escapades.

They, however, cooled down and went home together in the wee hours of the night.

The murder suspect told police he was shot on Friday morning, around 1:24 am as he dropped Jacque at Royal Park estate in Lang’ata.

The news anchor said she was ‘drunk and in pajamas’ when she took her lover to several hospitals in the city.

A party reveler close to the lovers said the news reader has been supporting Jowie financially.

“Hana job saa hii, he has been living off Jacque,” she said.
