National Soccer Team, Harambee Stars Head coach Sebastien Migne has threatened to quit if he is not paid his three months’ salary.
“I’ve not received my salary for the past three months. I am yet to receive payment of my accommodation but whenever I read the newspaper, everyone is talking of winning AFCON,” the 43-year French man is quoted by the Nation.
“I don’t speak about victory. The first stage is bringing all stakeholders on board. If you know little about football, it’s impossible for Kenya to think of winning now. Kenya has only won one game at the final tournament since the beginning of this kind of competition then you think you can win today?” he added.
The coach’s sentiments come a few days after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed that Kenya will be taking part in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
This will be the first time Kenya will take to the stage in AFCON tournament since 2004 in Tunisia.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) media chief Barry Otieno confirmed they owed Migne three months' salary.
“We are waiting for money from the sports ministry to pay him,” said Otieno.
Migne joined Harambee Stars in May on a three year contract. He reportedly earns Sh1.5 million per month.
