The Jubilee Senator says as leaders in the Rift Valley they will not allow the evictions to continue.

Speaking during a fundraiser at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Kapnyeberai in Kilibwoni, Emgwen constituency on Sunday, Cheragei termed the evictions as out of order and claimed they were being conducted inhumanly.

“How can a government of its normal mind construct schools, hospitals, police posts, social facilities at the Mau forest and thereafter evict its residents,” he said.

The vocal Senator who is the Senate Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights chairman further said they will be summoning individuals involved in the controversial evictions.

“As the chair of legal affairs in the Senate I will summon the chief conservator of forests and Narok county commissioner for violating the human rights in the Senate for them to tell to tell us which constitution they are using to abuse the human rights of our people in Mau,” he said.

Cherargei further called for the compensation of people who have so far been evicted and their properties destroyed.
