Deputy President William Ruto snubbed a meeting convened by President Uhuru Kenyatta whose agenda was to discuss turbulence in Jubilee Party on Friday, an aide has confirmed.
Instead, Ruto chose to hold a delegation of religious leaders from North Rift at his Sugoi home and was due to meet another one from Narok on Saturday.
According to the aide who sought anonymity, Ruto is irked by the fact that President Uhuru is yet to publicly denounce former Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe, who openly ruled out his presidency.
"We all know who Murathe is. The president has kept mum about the issue despite being a thorny one. It would be an act of desperation if the DP travelled all the way to the coast yet he's being undermined.
"That's why he thought it wise to meet delegations as he's been doing. Even if they aren't supporting him, it's basically not right to choreograph attacks against him. He now wants to move his own path," he said.
So cold has been their relationship lately with the Saturday Standard also confirming that the two leaders rarely reach out to each other on phone. Only their aides communicate.

Last Sunday, Ruto was also scheduled to fly to Mombasa for launching of Mama Ngina Drive Regeneration, but he bolted out under unclear circumstances.
