Mercado lost in a split point decision and took to her twitter to voice her complaint.

“Thank you Kenya, I'm going sad (sic) for that unjust decision of the judges, but very grateful and enchanted by its people, it was a beautiful stay❤” she tweeted.

Ghanian judge Eddie Papoe awarded Mercado 96-94, while Kenya's Bena Kaloki and Francis Chirwa from Malawi gave Zarika 97-93 and 99-91 respectively in the ten-round title bout.

Mercado has had an impressive career, having lost only once in her 13 bouts so far. The 20-year-old is a second-year nursing student at the Universidad Autonoma de Gudad Juarez, Mexico.
