The late Anjlee Gadhvi Noorani’s body was on Saturday cremated at Nairobi’s Kariokor crematorium, as per the Hindu rites and traditions, in a short ceremony attended by close family members and friends.
Noorani died on Friday while receiving treatment at the Aga Khan hospital in Nairobi, after a long battle with lung cancer. Until her death, she was a news anchor at K24 TV.
K24’s prime time news anchor Eric Njoka, eulogised the late Anjlee as a very bubbly person.
“Anjlee was a very bubbly person. She was a very enthusiastic person. She was a person who loved life and when she was diagnosed with cancer, she did not treat it as a disease she treated it as a challenge in life,” said Njoka on a news item which ran on Citizen TV’s Saturday 9pm bulletin.
His sentiments went hand in hand with those of K24’s sports news anchor Shown Osimbo.
“It is quite a sad day for everyone involved in the newsroom. Anjlee was very bubbly, she was very warm and one thing that stood out with Anjlee when I came to the newsroom was how she welcomed me with open hands," she said.
She is survived by a widower; Dr Mohamed Noraani and two children.
